A meeting held by Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Barrister Khalid Khursheed, called upon Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, on Monday. It was agreed to further expand the bilateral cooperation along with promotion of inter-provincial harmony. CM Punjab confirmed collaboration between the two provinces for the digitization of land records.
What is digitization of Records?
The process of digitization, if to be explained, would be the literal conversion of the paper-based records to electronic documents which simplify the tedious burden of record maintenance and management as well as other major related matters.
Why is Digitization of GB Land Records Important?
The conventional system of land records has not only been proven incompatible with the ever-so-growing digital world now, but it has also been found corrupt and flawed. With the whole world moving forward with digitization of records, it is an appreciative step taken by the Punjab government to not let GB fall behind.
This would protect records no matter what natural disaster, theft, or loss happens, and shall make record retrieval painless while modernizing to current standards.
Computerization will also encourage easier accessibility of property rights, improved taxation and collection mechanism, land conflict resolution and reduction of corrupt practices.
It is certain that after successful implementation this would help being increased efficiency to the Province which holds importance for its peaks and its streams.
