Murree to get district status for better management

Introduction:

Following the tragedy of Murree, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar visited Murree on Sunday, and took an aerial tour of the affected area.
This was prior to the special meeting held by the Punjab government where it had been decided, in principle, to award Murree the status of a district. Chief Minister ordered that a police superintendent and additional deputy commissioners be appointed immediately.

Details:

The meeting also established construction of two police stations as well as two parking plazas. The latter would be constructed at Sunny Bank and Jhika Gali to cater to the influx of tourists that Murree receives. Further, a shuttle service will connect these parking plazas with Mall Road. The proposed name of the new district will be ‘Kohsar District’.

“Giving Murree the status of a district would ensure better administration and prevent such a tragedy from occurring in the future,” said the MNA, referring to the events of the past week.
